PhotographerAlbert was a self-taught artist for 10 years before getting into formal studies which lead him to complete a Diploma in Creative Industries at the University of Goroka and later Bachelor of Arts (Art & Design) at the University of Papua New Guinea.
He has won several awards: 2010 Coffee Festival Art Award- Peoples’ Choice, 2011 Best Print Making & Painting under LIVE LAVE Art Award at the University of Goroka. Albert has participated in various publications, research and exhibitions both in PNG & overseas – some of which include; The Luksave Art Show, Coffee Festival Art Show, LIVE LAVE Art Show, Melanesian Festival Art Show, Pacific Tuna Art Show, SOIM KALA Art Show, PNG Art Evolution Exhibition and Signature Art Show (Singapore). He also illustrated the book “THE MAGIC LOG” by Ellen Mesibere and has worked on a research project as a photographer for the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade.. In 2015, he was featured in the Stella Magazine as Guest Artist, 2nd edition. Albert is a very dynamic, enthusiastic and energetic artist who advocates passionately for the importance of art in our societies. |
I see art as a tool or medium of communication which has the power to influence our society in many ways. As an artist, it is a true role I am taking to create and stimulate its perfectness using different techniques. - Albert Joseph

What was the first piece you sold? How did it happen?Charcoal, Acrylic, pencil, pastel. |
What mediums do you work with?My first piece was called "Traditional Intelligence". I was awarded the Emerging Artist Award in the Live Lave Art award at the University of Goroka. |
What is your favourite piece that you have made and why?"Merr". A traditional dance from W.H.P. It depicts the true accent of Western Highlands men. |
